Overview Taren Point is a neighbourhood in southernmost Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, 20 km away south of Sydney's business district, in the Sutherland Shire local government. Taren Point has a population of 28,712 people, according to the 2016 census. Moreover, Taren Point was located inside the St George region, on the peninsula in which the Captain Cook Bridge spans the Georges River north to Sans Souci.
Living in Taren Point Taren Point is made up of a variety of residential, business, and commercial districts. The domestic neighbourhood is situated along the Georges River's bank, near the opening of Botany Bay. It is in near vicinity to Officeworks, Bunnings, and Flower Power. The majority of the residential and retail districts are concentrated along Taren Point Road and eastward towards Woolooware Bay.
History of Taren Point Taren Point is also referred to as Comyns Peak, Cummins Mark, and Commins Point, after a nearby resident. However, Taren Point's beginnings are similarly unknown. Thomas Holt (1811–88) possessed the estate that ran across Sutherland to Cronulla, and Holt Road bears his surname. Meanwhile, Taren Point saw a cane toad infestation in 2010, which had been contained by 2014. Since then, no native animals have been found in the region.
