History of Tinbeerwah QLD Tinbeerwah is an Aboriginal word that means "site of grassy bushes" or "great hill rising." Its Temporary Institute first officially opened on September 2, 1914, and its public school was founded on September 1, 1916. However, the school was shut on August 9, 1963. Also, Sian Kingi, a 12-year-old Noosa child, was kidnapped from Noosa Heads and sexually abused and murdered in Tinbeerwah in 1987. Tinbeerwah (the rest of Shire of Noosa) was part of the Sunshine Coast Region in 2008 and 2013; however, the Shire of Noosa was re-constructed in 2014.
