History of Vincent Vincent is located in the traditional Wulgurukaba Aboriginal County. On 1 January 1967, the suburb was named in honour of Major William Slade Vincent, the first commanding officer of the 3rd Queensland Regiment based at Kissing Point, Townsville. The first school to open in Vincent was the Vincent State School, on 30 January 1968.
