History of West End
Today where we find Brisbane State High School, which was an Aboriginal camp originally. The British settlers here name the West area End after the famous West End of London. In 1873 a Primitive Methodist Church opened. At least three schools were inaugurated in 1875. The 1880s brought industrial growth to the West End. Over the years, much development and all-around growth took place as Brisbane went through significant development and expansion. Brisbane School of Distance Education was founded in 1988.
