Yarrambat is 24 kilometres northeast of the central business district of Melbourne. It is part of the local government area of the Shire of Nillumbik.

Living in Yarrambat Yarrambat is one of the most affluent suburbs in northeastern Melbourne, with many large allotments of land close to the City. Yarrambat has a kindergarten school, a primary school, a private school, a war memorial, a recreation reserve, a fire station, and a railway museum. The Yarra Plenty Regional Library, a mobile library, does regular stops in the suburb.

History of Yarrambat Yarrambat was named after the Woiwurrung word that means "pleasant views" or "high hills." Many residents initially wanted the town to be named Kanangra, but it was too close to Kanungra, the name of a Queensland township. In the late 19th century, Yarrambat was a well-known gold mining area. When the mining boom dipped, most of the lands were cleared, surveyed, and converted to farmlands. The town then became known for local orchids. Tanck's Corner, the first Post Office in Yarrambat, opened in 1910. It was renamed Yarrambat Post Office in 1928.
