Overview Zilzie is a coastal town located within the Shire of Livingstone local government area. The town has an estimated land area of 34 square kilometres. With a population of 2,713 (as of 2016), it is one of the least densely populated towns in Queensland. Zilzie is 47 km east of Rockhampton and 664 km northwest of Brisbane. It is also bordered by a few other towns and suburbs, namely Emu Park, Coorooman, The Keppels, and Keppel Sands.

History of Zilzie The name of this town is derived from Zilzie Point, which is the northern coastal tip of the suburb. Zilzie Point, on the other hand, was named after a property that was owned by Arthur Bootle Wilbraham. It was an amalgam of his wife’s name – Lizzie.
