Overview Aintree was named a separate suburb under the administration of the City of Melton local government in 2017. The area was part of a volcanic plain interspersed with big rocks when early European settlers arrived. Perhaps, the absence of too many trees led to the locality named Aintree.

Aintree hosted a word record event when 835 participants received a soccer lesson together on 26 October 2019. It was the largest such event ever organised.
