Austral is neighboured by the suburbs of Kemps Creek, Cecil Park, Middleton Grange, Rossmore, West Hoxton, Leppington, and Denham Court. As per the 2016 census, Austral has a population of 6529.
Living in Austral Austral is one of the fastest-growing suburbs of Syndey and is expected to benefit from the planned new airport that is being built in nearby Badgerys Creek.
Austral has several facilities, including a sports ground, tennis court, and a skate ramp at Craik Park. There are two small shopping areas in the suburb, and there’s also a rural fire station, retirement villages, a nursing home and an animal centre.

History of Austral Austral was once part of West Hoxton, which was purchased by the Austral Banking and Land Proprietary. In 1891, the locals pushed for a second public school in the area. The company donated 3 acres of land for the school, and in return, it was named Austral Public School. The school’s name became synonymous with the area and became the suburb’s recognised name in 1972.
