Overview Bardwell Park is a beautiful suburb in Southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located 12 km south of the Sydney Central business district and covers part of the St George area. Bardwell Park is in the local government area of the Bayside Council, and Bardwell Valley to the East is a separate suburb. According to the 2016 census, the suburb had a population of 2,242 people.
Living in Bardwell Park Bardwell Park is a beautiful, leafy residential area. As the area is relatively peaceful and surrounded by greenery, nature-lovers often like it. As far as the facilities are concerned, there is a small shopping centre at Hartill-Law Avenue and Slade Road, beside the Bardwell Park railway along with the Bardwell Park Earlwood RSL. History of Bardwell Park The suburb was named after Thomas Hill Bardwell, a free settler who owned land in the area. Originally the site was heavily timbered and bounded by Wolli Creek. However, in 1881, 1,600 acres were subdivided, and the land was auctioned. The railway station of Bardwell Park was opened on 21 September 1946. Bardwell Park was the only suburb in Sydney with no traffic lights until 2016. However, due to many road accidents at the Slade Road and Hartill-Law Avenue intersection, the traffic lights were installed, and on 11 August 2016, they were turned on.
