History of Bexley North James Chandler named Bexley after his birthplace in London. In 1882, Sylvester’s farm was bought by him, and in the same year, he also got land of 1,2000 acres for granted. The land stretches from modern-day Bexley North to a better part of Kogarah. 1884 marks the beginning of development in it. The area was opened up for home sites, with the railway station and the East Hills line opening in 1931.
