The area is well connected, and Belmore railway station is located on the Bankstown Line of the Sydney Trains Network.

History of Belmore Belmore got its name from the fourth Earl of Belmore, Governor of New South Wales from 1868-1872. Earlier, the area was known as Darkwater, and the first land grant was made to Richard Robinson. It was 100 acres of land that was granted east of Sharp Street and Kingsgrove Road. At that time, the land was used for orchards and market gardens. It was during 1892 when the first school named Belmore South Primary School was established. Now, the suburb features some classic art-deco architecture.
