Overview Greenacre is a suburb located in the LGAs of the city of Canterbury-Bankstown and the Municipality of Strathfield. The suburbs sits 17 kilometres southwest of Sydney’s central business district. Based on the 2016 census, Greenacre is home to 25571 residents.
Its neighbouring suburbs are Chullora, Rookwood, Strathfield South, Yagoona, Belfield, Belmore, Bankstown, Mount Lewis, Lakemba, and Punchbowl.
Living in Greenacre Unfocially, the suburb is separated into the north and south. At the south section of Greenacre are shops and a few outlets, mostly concentrated along Waterloo Road. The shops in the northern part of the suburb are often related to its neighbouring suburb, Chullora. In this area, you can find the Chullora Market Place, and there’s also a nearby large shopping hub called Bankstown Central Shopping Centre.
There are no railway stations in Greenacre, but various buses and coach services operate across the suburb. For schools, there are three primary schools in Greenacre, as well several private schools.
History of Greenacre Greenacre was previously called East Bankstown; however, when an acre of land was cleared for cultivation, the area was then referred to as “Green Acre”.
In 1909, one of the first subdivisions in the suburb was built and was named Greenacre Park Estate. During that time, the eastern part of the suburb was a mix of logistical and industrial areas, which also had a small residential section.
