History of Strathfield South Most Strathfield South is built on two early land grants: James Wilshire's gift in 1808 and Father John Joseph Therry's 1837 grant, which became the Village of St Anne's. In 1867, Wilshire's grant was partitioned and sold as the 'Redmire Estate.' Dean Street and Water Street in Strathfield South were established in this subdivision. From this early phase of construction, a few early Victorian and Federation-style homes have survived.
