Overview Bokarina is a suburb tucked along the Sunshine Coast Region. A part of Kawana Waters, the area is bounded by the Coral Sea at the east and Lake Kawana on the west. Nicklin Highway splits the expanse into two and then passes through its neighbouring suburbs―Warana on the north and Wurtulla on the south.
Living in Bokarina Bokarina is a coastal suburb that offers beautiful beach views and a quieter ambience. Aside from the scenic beachscape, the area is filled with various parks and outdoor spots. A local favourite is the Kawana Aquatic Centre, a vast recreational site that offers five pools, other options include the Village Park West, Kawana Playground, and Jasmin Circle Park. There is also an off-leash dog area at the beach. The residential homes are mostly situated east of Nicklin Highway, while most commercial establishments are dotted on the grassland at the west. The Kawana Waters State College is located nearby Lake Kawana.
History of Bokarina The term Bokarina was believed to be associated with an Aboriginal word that means middle. The suburb lies at the centre of the Kawana land development built by Alfred Grant Pty Ltd in 1969. Meanwhile, Kawana Waters State College was once called Kawana – Bokarina State College. This educational institution was actually a combination of two schools―Kawana Waters State High School and Bokarina State School.
