Warana is situated 102 km north of Brisbane and 10 km north of Caloundra. Warana is bordered by a few suburbs such as Parreara, Buddina, Sippy Downs, Birtinya, and Bokarina.

Living in Warana Warana is a small beach suburb, but it has a safe and family-friendly vibe. It is populated by professionals and families with kids; however, there are no schools in Warana; the families send their kids to schools in the neighbouring suburbs with the nearest one in Buddina. It has a beach town feel to it, which is laid back and relaxed. It is home to a coastal reserve, which helped to prevent beachfront development in this suburb. There is a small industrial estate in the southwest portion of this suburb.

History of Warana The name of this suburb is taken from a Tasmanian dialect that literally translates to “blue skies”. It was also proposed by developer Alfred Grant in 1960 in collaboration with the Queensland government to develop the area.
