History of Bonogin Its origin is anonymous, although it is assumed to be named after Bonno, an Aboriginal word that means red bloodwood. In the 1870s, the European settlement began here; timber, dairying, and cutting were its early industries. Subsequently, the growth of bananas started. 7th of July, 1913, marks the opening of Bonogin Creek State School. Although there was a teacher shortage, it had to face closures in the years 1917 and 1921. On the 30th of March 1924, it ultimately closed. For the formation of acreage residential developments, there was a subdivision of a few farms in the 1980s.
