History of Bulimba The Yuggara people have lived here for at least 20,000 years. With the land boom of the 1800s, this area (then known as Toogoolawah) saw the settlement of farmers. In the later 1880s, the area was becoming a residential area. 1866 saw the inauguration of the Bulimba Mixed School and was later named Bulimba State School. The same year the Primitive Methodist Church was built. In 1887 the Bulimba School of Arts opened. Over the years, Bulimba began growing with plots in various estates being auctioned till the 1940s educational and health facilities grew.
