Brisbane's CBD is just about three kilometres away from the suburb.

Living in Teneriffe Despite being previously an industrial and farming area, Teneriffe has already progressed with trendy restaurants, cafes, fancy apartments, and renovated old homes within the suburb. Many of its inhabitants are young people, usually young couples with no children. Residents and visitors can easily access the facilities around the neighbourhood just by walking, and commuters can conveniently go to the city as the travel time is only around 20 minutes. History of Teneriffe Europeans began to inhabit the area of Teneriffe in the 1880s. In 1885, horse-drawn trams served the area. Land near Teneriffe House was partitioned and auctioned in 1890. Teneriffe Estate was the name given to the 30 allotments that were auctioned. Over the years, Teneriffe has transformed from an industrial area to a residential one and was only classified as a suburb in 2010.
