It has land access from Fortitude Valley and Newstead, which lie to the north and northwest of the suburb. History of New Farm Originally it was known as Binkinba. However, in the early days of Brisbane's settlements, the peninsula was used as a farming area, which gave its current name. New Farm had been part of the Moreton Bay penal colony. The famous Brunswick Street that runs from the northwest to the southeast of the peninsula was used for horse-drawn trams during the late 1800s to cater to the area's transport needs.
