Overview Burleigh Waters is a suburb of the Gold Coast, and it sits adjacent to Burleighs Heads, Stephens, Andrews, and Reedy Creek. Occupying a small 6.7 square kilometres of area space, the 2016 national census records the population of Burleigh Waters as 31236.
*Living in Burleigh Waters Burleigh Waters is one of the most greatly reviewed suburbs within the City of Gold Coast. Residents highly appreciate the family-friendliness of the suburb, having clean and green environments, several parks and other recreational sports, schools, and other amenities. History of Burleigh Waters Stephens Swamp comprised most of present-day Burleigh Waters until the 1990s. It was named after a local landlord who cleared swamps beginning in 1861. Burleigh Waters changed substantially from the 1970s. Hooker Corporation and BMD Group constructed Burleigh Waters Estate in the late 1970s but failed.
Drainage and land reclamation ultimately replaced Stephens Swamp with several artificial lakes that gave the area its name. Burleigh Waters was identified and denoted on June 1, 1981. Burleigh is titled after Burly Head, which surveyor James Warner called in 1840.
