Beaudesert Road and Compton Road bound the area to the North, Gowan Road to the East, Illawena Street to the South, and Algester Road to the West. At the 2016 census, the population of the suburb was recorded as 17,124.
Living in Calamvale Most of the land in Calamvale is used as residential housing, and there are also shops, parks, and schools. Calamvale Shopping Centre is located at 51 Kameruka Street, and Calamvale Marketplace is another shopping centre at 16 Nottingham Road. History of Calamvale The name Calamvale came from James Calam, an early settler and prominent landowner in the suburb. James Calam moved into the area with his family, and they built their homestead at the top of Calam Road on a hill. Though the area was known as Calamvale for long, it was officially listed as a suburb in 1972. In 1984, the Calams sold their house to the McGuire family, and they built the Calamvale Hotel on the land.
