Overview Stretton is a southern suburb in Brisbane, Queensland. This covers an area of 4.5 square kilometres and is part of the City of Brisbane local government area.
Located 22 km from Brisbane CBD, Stretton has a few neighbouring suburbs such as Sunnybank Hills, Runcorn, Kuraby, Calamvale, Drewvale, and Karawatha.

History of Stretton Stretton, along with a few other suburbs in the area, was part of a larger suburb known as Cooper Plains during the early 1800s. In 1861, this area was declared as part of the Brisbane Agricultural Reserve. This was mainly used for sourcing timber but was later used for farming fruits, vegetables, and poultry. It was officially established as a suburb in 1972. The name is taken from George Stretton, who was among the original settlers in the area in the 1870s.
