Overview Kuraby is a suburb located at the outer southern margin of the local government area of the City of Brisbane. It is approximately 16 kilometres away from the general post office of Brisbane. The town covers a total land area of 4.5 square kilometres and has a recorded population of 8,108 inhabitants as per the national census held in 2016.

History of Kuraby Kuraby was known initially as Eight Miles Plains when the Hollosons and Bakers dominated the area and used it for agricultural purposes. It was renamed 'Kuraby' on August 16, 1975, after the Kuraby Rail Station, which the Railway Department first used in 1889. The name 'Kuraby' originated from an aboriginal word that means a place of many springs.
