Overview Parkinson is an outer southern suburb in Brisbane, Queensland. The suburb covers an area of 8.2 square kilometres and is situated 23 km south of Brisbane. Parkinson is bounded by a few suburbs, namely Pallara, Algester, Calamvale, Drewvale, Larapinta, Forestdale, Hillcrest, and Browns Plains.

The suburb is bound by the Mount Lindesay Highway to the east, which gives it access to other major roads. The Sydney-Brisbane rail corridor also serves it. History of Parkinson The suburb was named after engineer Henry Parkinson. The name was made official in 1972 by the Queensland Place Names Board. Before its suburban development, this area was mainly bushland. Urban development took place in the 1990s.
