Overview About 30 km south of Brisbane, Hillcrest is part of the City of Logan. This Queensland suburb is 30 km east of Ipswich. According to the 2016 census, it was home to 5,626 residents, and about a third of them were from New Zealand, England, India, the Philippines, China, Vietnam and South Africa. Hillcrest shares its easter boundary with the key regional hub of Browns Plain. The Mount Lindesay Highway separates it from Regents Park.
Living in Hillcrest Hillcrest is a great family suburb with good transport, supermarkets, lots of parks and schools. The Brisbane airport is 35 minutes, while the Ipswich CBD is 20 minutes away. Woodbridge, Berrinba, Crestmead and Springwood's economic hubs are conveniently placed just 15 minutes from Hillcrest. Browns Plains Grand Plaza, the regional transport hub, is only a 5 minutes drive. The Mount Lindesay Highway runs on its eastern side.
History of Hillcrest Hillcrest was originally a part of Browns Plains. It got its name from an estate located on the crest of a hill, which is now home to a huge water tower. Like most of Browns Plains, the suburb was once an agricultural hub with big tobacco farms. In 1840, the northern part became a separate locality known as Browns Plains, while the south continues to be an extensive green area. When large-scale residential settlements began in the area, real estate developers throng Hillcrest. In 1987, it was officially registered as a suburb of the City of Logan.
