Overview Chandler is a suburb located in the southeastern portion of the City of Brisbane. The suburb extends to the west of Tingalpa Creek and north of Tingalpa Reservoir. The suburb is semi-rural, with vast bushlands remaining intact due to the area's small population. With a land area of 13 square kilometres, Chandler has a population of 1,440 inhabitants, based on the 2016 national census.
Living in Chandler Chandler is a semi-rural suburb that is relatively close to the central business district of Brisbane (approximately 20 minutes away). History of Chandler Before its official establishment as a suburb in 1975, Chandler was a part of Belmont and western Capalaba. Its name was taken from a former mayor of the suburb, executive officer of the Chandler retail chain for electrical goods, and founder of the first radio station of Brisbane, Sir John Beals Chandler. For decades, the land of Chandler was mostly unoccupied, which encouraged the development of the Sleeman Centre used for the Commonwealth Games in 1982.
