Overview Cherrybrook is a multicultural suburb of New South Wales and a part of the Hills District of Sydney. It is under the local administration of Hornsby Shire, and Sydney’s CBD is 27 km southeast of it. About 18768 residents lived in the area as of the 2016 census. Once home to large orchards, it turned to be the site of Sydney’s first project home village in 1959.

Living in Cherrybrook Leafy and quiet, Cherrybrook is emerging as an upmarket suburb with great amenities. The shopping centre is one of the best in the area while there are plenty of good schools. It is a lovely suburb for leading a family life and enjoying fantastic recreational facilities. Bus and train services make it convenient to travel from Cherrybrook to Sydney CBD, especially with the recent new metro line service.

The glittering Castle Towers shopping centre is in the vicinity. Cherrybrook has many playgrounds, sports venues, walking trails, shops and great local restaurants.

History of Cherrybrook In 1839, Joseph Harrison settled in the area and began the first orchard around the creek planting cherries, peaches, pears and citrus fruits. The area became Cherrybrook after the name of his timber cottage located in the middle of cherry trees. Years later, Cherrybrook farm expanded and included more settlements and dairy farms along with orchards. In 1959, the government chose Cherrybrook to start its first project home village. The area was rebuilt with exhibition homes and came to have a model landscape. The 1980s saw a surge in demand for local real estate, and the area grew exponentially in the 1990s.
