Overview Colebee is an outer-west suburb located north of Blacktown, the largest suburb by population in New South Wales. It is 47 km northwest of Sydney CBD and among the fastest growing localities in the Western Sydney region. In 2016, the population was about 2,000 residents. Under the administration of the Blacktown city council, Colebee is bordered by Quakers Hill to the east, Marsden Park to its north, Hassall Grove to the west and Dean Park to its south. History of Colebee The suburb bears the name of Aboriginal leader Colobee, the first indigenous Australian to get land grants from the English colonial government. After the English arrival in Sydney in 1788, the Aboriginals faced many problems in their access to food and forest, causing an impact on their lives. Soon conflicts broke out. Colobee, a warrior leading his clan, was captured and imprisoned. Afterwards, Colobee was befriended and grated land at the Plumpton Ridge. He moved to the area with his people and settled in the present-day Colebee suburb.
