History of Hassall Grove The beginning of Hassall Grove can be traced to the Hassall family of England. Rowland Hassall and his son Thomas came to Sydney in 1798 and became influential religious figures and landowners.

Rowland Hassall was a Church of England minister and Samuel Marsden's property manager.

The New South Wales Housing Commission divided the western portion of the residential suburb north of Mount Druitt in the 1980s and named the new suburb after Rev. Thomas Hassall, the son-in-law of Rev Samuel Marsden.
