History of Cooran Many believe that the Cooran name is an Aboriginal expression that comes from "kuran" or "gurun" that describes tall trees, usually, the Eucalyptus tessellaris of Moreton Bay Ash indigenous to northern New South Wales and eastern Queensland.
The Cooran Post Office opened in 1989 and the Cooran Provisional School in 1890. The Cooran Memorial Hall, the oldest memorial Hall in the Noosa Region, opened in 1906.
