Overview Eleebana is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia. It is located 18 kilometres from Newcastle’s Central Business District and lies along the eastern shoreline of Lake Macquarie. According to the 2016 population census, 5,760 people were residing in the area.

History of Eleebana Eleebana was not suitable for agriculture, and that’s why it wasn’t settled until it became part of the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie urban sprawl. The land was not that fertile and steep, so it wasn’t suitable for farming or growing anything. In the 1920s and 30s, Henry Halloran sold boatshed leases on the waterfront. These sheds were occupied during the summer, but the council had to face many challenges in negotiating their removal after World War I.
