Overview Ellen Grove is an outer southwestern suburb of the City of Brisbane, about 25 kilometres from the city’s central business district. Surrounding Ellen Grove is the suburbs of Gailes, Wacol, Forestlake, and Carole Park. As per the 2016 census, the suburb has a population of 2,906.

Although it has yet to catch up to its neighbouring suburbs in terms of amenities, Ellen Grove offers facilities to cater to the basic needs of its locals. A small shopping centre is found on Waterford Road, where it has a supermarket and a post office.
There are currently no schools in Ellen Grove; however, there are nearby schools in the suburb, such as the government primary schools in Carole Park, Wacol, and a secondary school in Forest Lake.
History of Ellen Grove The original owner of the area where Ellen Grove is located was R.P. Spinks. Spinks had a daughter named Ellen Dabing. Ellen often played with the local Aboriginals in a tree grove near Bullockhead Creek - thus the suburb's name.
It was around 1959 when the Ellen Grove was subdivided for housing. Three years after, the suburb’s name was gazetted due to lobbying from the Ellen Grove Progress Association.
Due to Ellen Grove’s population increase in the early 2000s, the suburb was extended to both north and south in 2009.
