History of Forest Lake The area of Forest Lake belongs to the traditional Aboriginal country. It served as the location of a homestead that Henry Farley built in the late 1870s. It also served as the command post for the ammunition depot. By the 1990s, the construction of a master-planned community in the area began, and it is what is now known as Forest Lake.
