Overview Fairfield is a suburb that lies 5.5 km from Brisbane CBD. It is stationed along the banks of Brisbane River, surrounded by Dutton Park on the north, Annerley on the east, and Yeronga on the south. Just above the area is the South Brisbane Cemetery, while the Beenleigh railway line and Venner Road enclose the east and south sections. Annerley Road passes through a portion in the north and then connects with Ipswich Road on the right.

History of Fairfield The earliest settlers in the place were brothers Samuel Grimes and George Grimes, who transferred in 1849. Years later, they built an arrowroot farm, which they referred to as Fairfield. Accordingly, this became the origin of the suburb’s name. In 1865, the Fairfield Baptist Church was established. Then, in 1914, the subdivision of the Rail Estate into 28 residential lots occurred. This particular estate was situated nearby the Fairfield railway station.
