History of Fairfield The earliest settlers in the place were brothers Samuel Grimes and George Grimes, who transferred in 1849. Years later, they built an arrowroot farm, which they referred to as Fairfield. Accordingly, this became the origin of the suburb’s name. In 1865, the Fairfield Baptist Church was established. Then, in 1914, the subdivision of the Rail Estate into 28 residential lots occurred. This particular estate was situated nearby the Fairfield railway station.
