Overview Flaxton is a rural suburb, which belongs to the local government area of the Sunshine Coast Region in Queensland. The town is situated between the localities of Mapleton and Montville. It is a suburb known for its homemade wine products and wineries. The small suburb, which covers only 11.6 square kilometres, has a population of 31,712 residents, as of the 2016 census.
Living in Flaxton Flaxton is considered one of the loveliest suburbs among the Blackall Range. Its pleasant aesthetics are due to its streets lined with trees, bushlands, and the panoramic view of the mountain from the suburb. History of Flaxton Flaxton Hall Farm in the East Anglian fens is the inspiration for the place's title. It wasn't until 1882 that Joseph Dixon, who grew sugarcane in Buderim, decided to move to Flaxton. To cultivate citrus fruits and bananas, the area was cleared in 1892. In 1931, a fruit-packing facility that could handle the whole produce of the region was opened. Before it was destroyed by fire in 1956, a sawmill was also in operation for more than two decades.
