Neighbouring Dulong are the localities of Mapleton, Kureelpa, Perwillowen, Towen Mountain, Flaxton, Hunchy, and West Woombye.
Living in Dulong Dulong today remains a rural community with almost no public facilities found in the town. Residences are located mainly along Dulong Road and on the northwest end of its border.

History of Dulong It is believed that Dulong is an Aboriginal term that means “mud” or “wet clay”. One of the first establishments in the area was the Dulong Provisional School, which opened on 8 July 1895. By 1909, the school became Dulong State School; however, it was eventually closed in 1929 due to a low number of enrollees. The school reopened in 1930 but was permanently closed in 1967.
