Overview Kalorama is a suburb in Melbourne, located 35 kilometres away from the city's central business district. The suburb is within the local government of the Shire of Yarra Ranges and is neighboured by the localities of Montrose, Mount Evelyn, Mount Dandenong, and Silvan. On the south of Kalorama is the Dandenong Ranges National Park. As of the 2016 census, Kalorama has 1,239 residents.

History of Kalorama The first European settlement in Kalorama began in 1855 after Isaac Jeeves, Matthew Child, and Jabez Richardson took up selections in the area. A post office opened here in 1909 but was then called "Hand's Corner". In 1910, the post office was renamed Mount Dandenong North.
The suburb takes its name from the Greek word "Kalos", which means "beautiful view", and was adopted as the area's name in 1932.
