Overview Mount Evelyn is a suburb close to the edge of Melbourne's expanse at the eastern section. It is cornered by Wandin North on the east, Lilydale on the north and west, and Montrose and Kalorama on the south. The locality is within the Shire of Yarra Ranges, stationed 37 km from the capital.
Four significant roads connect at the centre―Clegg Road, Monbulk Road, Herefore Road, and York Road. On the other hand, Swansea Road and Olinda Creek serve as the dividing line between the suburb and Lilydale.
Living in Mount Evelyn Because of its location, Mount Evelyn is loaded with many reserves, playgrounds, and walking trails. One of the most popular is the Warburton Trail, a notable track that passes through the expanse, running from Lilydale to Warburton. Other recreational sites are Quinn Reserve, Morrison Reserve, and Graham Colling Reserve, among others. Many schools are also within the suburb's boundaries, including Mount Evelyn Primary School, Birmingham Primary School, St Mary's Catholic Primary School, etc. Most of the shopping and dining options are stationed at Wray Cres.
History of Mount Evelyn In the older times, Mount Evelyn was called Olinda Vale because it nestles along the Olinda Creek on the west. Aside from that, other neighbouring areas were once referred to as Billygoat Hill, South Wandin, and McKillop/Valinda. In 1904, this signalled the development of the expanse, opening the Valinda Post Office. Four years later, Olinda Vale was replaced by Evelyn. Then, in 1913, It transitioned to its current name, Mount Evelyn.
