History of Kingsholme Kingsholme was named by James Murtha in 1869, who hailed from County Cork, Ireland. He named his property Kingsholme and that’s where the name of the locality came from. The Thomson family is another notable family in the locality who came from Scotland in 1889. The locality has many farming families who grew sugarcane, bananas, and arrowroot. Some of them also used to do dairying or sawmill. Many former farms have been sub-divided today.
