History of Macleod The town of Macleod was named after its owner in 1903, Malcolm Macleod. The acquisition of land was allowed by Macleod on the condition that a railway should be named after him. The rural town of Macleod became popular for the asylum that was built there. Eventually, the suburb became the residential area that it is today.
