History of Manifold Heights The development of the area started in 1929 with the commencement of the post office. The suburb was named after Manifolds’ vineyards located immediately east of the Geelong Western Cemetery in Herne Hill. These vineyards existed between Shannon Avenue and Minerva Road. These vineyards are owned by John and Peter Manifold, the prominent Western District attendants.
