The suburb is under the local government of the Logan city council.

History of New Beith New Beith got its name from the Scottish township of Beith. Richard Wilson, an early settler, was credited with naming the suburb. His wife Cecelia was from Beith in Ayrshire, Scotland, and he selected the name New Beith for his estate, and it became popular later. The area was primarily used for grazing and timber cutting. Gradually, hotels, schools and churches came up. In 2008, New Beith became a part of the Logan city council following the local administrative reorganization in Queensland.
