Overview South Maclean is a rural locality in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. It lies on the Mount Lindesay Highway, and the Logan River makes a part of its northern and southern boundaries. In the 2016 census, 1,362 people were living in South Maclean.
Living in South Maclean South Maclean is a peaceful location with a friendly community. The area is developing fast, and it offers an excellent acreage lifestyle. There is plenty of activity in the area, close to both Browns Plains and Jimboomba town centres. As the leafy and quiet locality neighbours the Logan River, there are many beautiful destinations to explore. North Maclean is located immediately to the north of South Maclean. A small section of the area aligns with the Sydney-Brisbane rail corridor.
History of South Maclean Earlier, North and South Maclean was a single district known as Logan Bridge. It was called Logan Bridge because there was a low-level bridge across the Logan River at this location. However, the community got the name Maclean after Alexander Grant McLean, the acting Surveyor General of New South Wales. In 1997, the locality of Maclean was replaced by North and South Maclean. After getting divided, South Maclean became part of Logan City but was in the Shire of Beaudesert. In 2017, South Maclean was extended eastward to create the new localities of Riverbend and Glenlogan.
