As of the 2016 census, the population of Notting Hill was 20,200, with its median age being 27 years old, much lower than the Australian average of 37.

History of Notting Hill The suburb of Notting Hill is built on an area whose primary owners are acknowledged to be the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung people. European colonizers displaced these people in the early 1800s. It is speculated that an early settler, Thomas Wilkinson named the area because he was related to the Notting Hill district of London. The area's post office opened on 4 April 1887 but was closed down in 1975.
