History of Glen Waverley
The first settlers of Glen Waverley arrived in the area around mid 19th century, where the land was developed for farms and orchards. A post office was opened in July 1886 and was called Black Flat and was renamed Glen Waverley in 1921.
Significant developments in the suburb took place from the 1950s to the 1970s. It was also during this time when Legend Park Estate was opened.
Waverley got its name from the Edinburgh Waverley railway station from the novel" 'Tis Sixty Years Since" by Sir Walter Scott.
