History of Rosebery The name Rosebery originated from Archibald Philip Primrose, the Fifth Earl of Rosebery. He is a British salesman who explored southern Australia back in 1884. At the time of his visit, the government opted to name suburbs from great counties, including Rosebery, which was officially announced in 1885. Even with the cancellation of its initial name as “County of Rosebery”, it retained the “Rosebery” title.
