Overview South Ripley is a part of Ecco Ripley, Australia’s largest master-planned community. A suburb of the City of Ipswich, this Queensland suburb is 43 km southwest of Brisbane. Ipswich is located 11 km north. Ripley surrounds it to the north, Deebing Heights and Goolman to the west, Lyons to the south and White Rock and Spring Mountain to its east. The population stood at 716 in the 2016 census.

History of South Ripley The Ripley area derives its name from the Ripley Valley. The A5 highway, also known as the Centenary Highway, divides the district into northern and southern parts. South Ripley is the part of the Bundamba Creek valley positioned to the south of the A5 highway. It was home to the Yugarabul Aboriginals before the European settlement in the mid-1800s. South Ripley was a predominantly farming community until Ecco Ripley planned master urban development in 2010.
