Overview With a small population of 1721 according to the 2016 census, Teesdale is a rural suburb within the Golden Plains Shire local government area. It lies 10 kilometres east of Bannockburn and 7 kilometres northeast of Geelong. It is also bordered by Lethbridge in the north, Shelford in the west, and Inverleigh in the south.
Living in Teesdale Teesdale's most attractive assets are its expansive tracts of rural land. The suburb doesn't lack shops that provide essential services. There are pharmacies, plumbers, and small shops that sell basic needs.
The suburb also has a small primary school. However, residents usually commute to nearby towns, primarily Geelong. Teesdale has a small park known as the Turtle Bend, located north of the highway.
History of Teesdale The area on which Teesdale currently stands was first surveyed in 1852. Settlers began to move in, leading to the opening of a Presbyterian church and school. This church still stands to this day and is considered one of the town's landmarks. The suburb also had an old recreation reserve which includes pavilions and tennis courts.
The Teesdale post office was established in 1864. A community plan was produced in 2011, which laid out several development projects, such as a town centre and bike tracks to neighbouring Bannockburn.
