Overview Torquay is located on the Surf Coast Highway, 22 kilometres south of Geelong and 104 kilometres southwest of Melbourne. It is known as the Great Ocean Road's beginning point from the East. The total population as of 2016, according to the census, is 17,939. It is a seaside town facing the Bass Strait, bordered by Spring Creek on the west side. It is also home to the Australian Rules football team, the Torquay Tigers.
