Overview Windaroo is a residential suburb on the west bank of the Albert River, 36 kilometres south of Brisbane's central business district. It was historically part of the Gold Coast City but was relocated to Logan City in 2008. Based on the 2016 census data, it has a total population of 55,212 residents.

History of Windaroo J S Pinwell took out his second sugar lease in the Albert River region with Windaroo. William Warren, who also owned Noyea Plantation, now known as Mount Warren Park, later took over. In 1894, the Heck family, the Rocky Point sugar mill owners, purchased the land and continued to grow sugar on the flats while grazing cattle on the slopes. The area remained predominantly rural until the late 1970s, when Windaroo Acres, a rural residential estate, was subdivided.
